Sensing Herbs

Image
Next Nature Folklore Sessions Live - Sunday 29th August, at 2pm Irish Time Watch here Live! ... or watch the archive later (click pic to set reminder) Sensing Herbs how we are all herbalists A herb session without herb books. A quest to learn a bit from herb plants through your senses, and past uses memories. An experience of wonder, trust, discovery and confidence about some of the plants that may already surround you. You will not need to know their names of the herbs but allow senses to discover how they can benefit you and how to harvest and store them. A lovely intimacy with nature session. Also I invite any herbalists among you who work closely with plants to be included in this broadcast. You can be a live guest on the Sunday or send me a pre-recorded video, or even an audio accompanied with photos and I can weave those together for the show. So intimate herbalists, please contact me :-) Looking forward to you joining us on Sunday.

Crom Dubh Legends

Next Nature Folklore Sessions Live - Sunday 15th August, at 2pm Irish Time Watch here Live! ... or watch the archive later (click pic to set reminder) Crom Cruach LegendsCrom Dubh Legends the lesser known mythology of harvests gathered This, and the previous 'Nature Folklore' sessions, last Sunday, featuring Croms Cruach and Dubh, are perhaps the most niche of all that I present. This is part two of a two part Nature Folklore session exploring the folklore and mythologies of Crom Cruach and Crom Dubh. It is a challenge to separate the two as similar tales are told of both legends. But it does seem that the Crom Dubh mythology arrived later than the reverence for Crom Cruach as a god. The tales of Crom Cruach and Crom Dubh are very intertwined these days. Though nobody really knows the origins and details of either I am going to approach this as Crom Cruach being symbolic as a bringer of harvests, and Crom Dubh as a metaphor mythology of what happens
